GOFFSTOWN, N.H. (AP) – A Goffstown man is hoping his squash is sizable enough to set a record.
Jim Beauchemin grows giant pumpkins and squash for competitions, and this year thinks he may just have a winner. He says last week the world record for largest squash was set by a man in Michigan with a 1,018-pounder.
But Beauchemin has a squash growing in his patch that he estimates weighs at least 980 pounds and says is gaining four pounds a day. He plans to let it grow another week before bringing it to a competition in Rhode Island to see if he sets the record.
