Dear Sun Spots: You’re my only hope. I have a 3-year-old granddaughter who needs some dental work done, but because she has “symptoms consistent with post-traumatic stress disorder” and gets quite panicky in unfamiliar situations, her dentist has recommended she see a special pediatric dentist who can deal with her fears with some sort of anesthesia. I was given a couple of dentists’ names and numbers, and when I called them they gave me a couple more, and so on until I wasn’t getting any new names anymore. And none of them is taking new patients, especially when they hear “Maine Care.” Could you please list any pediatric dentists you can find the numbers for, even in New Hampshire, if necessary, so I can keep trying?
Also, what are the legalities and such for removing and disposing of asbestos siding? Thanks so much. – No name, No town.
Answer: Sun Spots checked with MaineCare staff, which acknowledges there is a shortage of dentists here in Maine and that helps account for the lack of Maine Care dentists. The Maine Care staff say you should try contacting their member services at (800) 977-6740 to locate a dentist working with the plan.
Regarding your second question, you should contact the state’s asbestos program at (207) 287-7829 to help determine what you will need to do.

Dear Sun Spots: I listen to the Wolf, and like the wicked-hard question in the morning. They say to call 9099 The Wolf. I have called this number and no results. Can you please help? – No Name, No Town.
Answer: Sun Spots believe you have the incorrect call numbers and consequently have been dialing the wrong number for the “Wolf Wake Me Up” call program hosted by Dave and Michelle. Sun Spots checked with station manager Stan Manning, who says you need to call 866-900-9653.
