NEW GLOUCESTER – Ella T. Drummond, a longtime resident of Auburn, went home to the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 1. She had been living in New Gloucester with her son and daughter-in-law for the past eight years.

She was born in South Portland, on Jan. 15, 1915, the daughter of Joseph William and Ella Carter Tibbetts. She was a graduate of South Portland High School.

On Aug. 24, 1937, she married J. Omer Drummond. They were happily married for 41 years. Mr. Drummond died on Dec. 20, 1978.

She worked as a stenographer, school secretary, and as a librarian in the University of Maine, L-A system.

She was an active member of the Court Street Baptist Church for many years, and faithfully served on a variety of boards and committees.

She enjoyed her family and friends, cooking and camping.

In recent years, she was blessed by the wonderful care provided by the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Brouillette and her husband, Richard, of Auburn; a son, James and his wife, Judy, of New Gloucester; five grandchildren, Richard Brouillette, Kim Phillips and her husband, Jonathan, and Karen Despres and her husband, Joe; Michael Drummond, and Katie Gray; a sister, Evelyn Tibbetts and a brother, Robert Tibbetts, both of Auburn; three great-grandchildren, Zackary and Harrison Gray, and Isaac Drummond.

She was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Arbo; and brothers, Joseph and Lawrence Tibbetts.
