WINTHROP – Evamay Gray Richards, 78, of Winthrop, passed away at her home Sunday, Oct. 2, with her loving husband, Marvin, by her side.

She was born in Wakefield, Mass., on Sept. 8, 1927, the daughter of Aubrey and Irene (Young) Millett. She was educated in Wakefield and North Wayne, and eventually graduated from Winthrop High School in 1946.

She became a licensed practical nurse, working in several local nursing homes and doing private duty nursing. Later she worked at Progressive and the Winthrop Transfer Station.

Evamay enjoyed writing poetry, knitting and sewing. She was a wonderful cook and was especially well-known for her rolls. She was a sweet and wonderful woman who will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; two sons, Robert Gray and his wife, Jean, of Fayette and Larry Gray and his wife, Sharon, of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Luanne Gray, of Mount Vernon; a stepdaughter, Pamela McCullough, of Lewiston; her brothers, Paul Millett and his wife, Anne, of East Winthrop, Lewis Millett, of Readfield and Florida and Elwin Millett, of Winthrop; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Woody.
