AUBURN – A Lewiston man who eluded police for several days last month after a Pierce Street stabbing has been indicted on a charge of attempted murder.
The Androscoggin County grand jury also found cause to indict Antonio Jose Abreu, 35, on charges of elevated aggravated assault and aggravated assault.
Abreu was arrested Sept. 15 at his apartment in Lewiston by police from that city along with a federal agent assigned to the Central Maine Violent Crime Task Force.
The charges stem from the Sept. 12 knifing that left 23-year-old Michael Lagasse hospitalized for several days.
Lagasse was stabbed in the early evening after a brief brawl in front of the apartment building where Abreu lives.
No trial date has been set.
