LEWISTON – A welcome-home ceremony for 41 soldiers returning from Iraq will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the National Guard Armory on Plourde Parkway.
Members of the 98th Division of the Army Reserve left for Iraq in October 2004. Their mission was to coach, mentor and assist in the training of the new Iraqi security forces. The reservists conducted noncommissioned officer education, officer education and military occupational specialty qualification courses for the Iraqi army. They also helped to improve schools and utilities.
Soldiers, family members and employers will be recognized at the ceremony.
