NORWAY – Helvi T. Morrill, 88, of Norway, died Friday, Sept. 30, at her home.

She was born in Paris on Dec. 6, 1916, the daughter of Evert and Eva Korhonen Seilonen. She lived in the Norway-Paris area all of her life, receiving her education at local schools. She graduated from Norway High School in the Class of 1934.

In December 1938, she married Omun Morrill; he was killed in Normandy, France, in 1944, shortly after D-Day.

She was employed by several local businesses, including Goodwin’s Insurance, New England Furniture Co., Western Auto and C.B. Cummings.

She was a member of the Finnish-American Heritage Society in West Paris. She enjoyed sewing and working in her flower and vegetable gardens, as recently as last year.

She is survived by two grandsons, Adam Towne of Portland and Nathan Towne of Norway; a sister, Impi Smith of Lewiston; two nieces; and two nephews.

Her only daughter, Patricia Towne, died in 2001.
