Harvest feast

AUBURN – The final phase of the Community Harvest Feast is being announced. The Auburn Advent Church, 263 Turner St., will host its community harvest dinner at noon on Sunday, Oct. 9, after the 11 a.m service with the theme: “The Harvest is Past.” Pastor Ronald Murch, hosting

The Good News Chapel at 2151 Lisbon Road, Lewiston will host its community feast at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, after the 10 a.m. service with the theme: “The Bread of Life.” Elder Roger Poisson, hosting.

The Turner Village Church on Main Street will host its community dinner at noon Sunday, Oct. 30, after the 11 a.m. service with the theme: “Who Will Tell Them.” A missions conference with guest speaker John McKim with Friends of Israel will be held. Pastor Nate Colson, hosting.

Those attending are asked to bring a casserole. The public is invited to attend services.

Chapter Martel

LEWISTON – Chapter Martel of the Association Canado-Americaine will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Frye School Apartment Hall, 140 Ash St., rear entrance. Members may a noon lunch at Dudley’s Restaurant at the Ramada Inn prior to the meeting.

Midwives meeting

LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Family will host a Meet the Midwives event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Chairmen’s Room on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building. Certified nurse-midwives from Central Maine Obstretrics-Gynecology in Lewiston, Blue Moon Midwives at Bridgton Hospital and from Rumford Hospital will be available. OES meeting

WALES – Lakeside Chapter, OES, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Grange Hall, 322 Centre Road, to honor the stations of Associate Matron and Associate Patron. All members and visiting members are encouraged to come and see if the theme is Columbus, Autumn Leaves, Halloween or something totally different. There will be refreshements after the meeting.

Scout Roundtable

AUBURN – The Boy Scout Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Auburn Middle School on Court Street.

This coming meeting will feature the topic: “Philmont.” Mike Barone from Bath will present his slide show and discuss it. This is the BSA’s most popular High Adventure Base Philmont. It’s on how to prepare Scouts for and help them get there and the benefits High Adventure experiences such as Philmont can bring to Scouts..

Guest speaker

AUBURN – Peter Slovenski, author of “Old School America,” will speak at a meeting of the Woman’s Literary Union at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. He will speak about the way “old school” principals enriched the lives of the World War II generation.

Hostesses will be Phyllis Splain and Tonie Ramsey. Ramsey is in charge of the house decorations. The public is invited.

Oak Hill reunion

WALES – Oak Hill High School Class of 1995 will hold its 10-year reunion starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Ramada Inn on Pleasant Street in Lewiston. Those planning to attend should RSVP by calling 207-547-4347 as soon as possible.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners of the special Club Appreciation Pairs game at the Multi-Purpose Center on Oct. 3 were: first, Anna Vitiello and Roger Briggs, first overall; second/third tie, Claire Tewhey and Charles Bartlett, first overall in B, and Ron Reynolds and Ray Sirois; fourth, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer, second overall in B; fifth, Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry; sixth, Allie Boyer and Barbara Beegel, third overall in B.

The game on Columbus Day, Oct. 10, will be played at 9 a.m. at Schooner Estates, Stetson Road, Auburn.
