AUBURN – Auburn Middle School will get a new teacher for its growing English Language Learners program.
On Wednesday, the School Committee approved the hiring of a fifth teacher for the program, which teaches foreign students how to read and speak English. With 107 students, the program currently has four teachers and five teaching assistants.
The position was not originally in this year’s budget, Assistant Superintendent Tom Morrill said. School officials will review accounts and try to find savings to pay for the new teacher, he said.
