AUGUSTA – Junior hunters will have the woods to themselves on Saturday, Oct. 22, in pursuit of their deer. Last year, 599 young hunters were successful during the event.
Hunters ages 10 to 15 who possess a valid hunting license (resident or non-resident) are eligible for the hunt if they are under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian or a qualified adult. A qualified adult is someone at least 18 years of age and approved by the child’s parent or guardian. That person also must hold a valid hunting license and have completed a hunter safety course. The accompanying adult may not possess a firearm on the hunt.
