BETHEL – A Bethel woman and her passenger were injured early Saturday when their SUV crashed into the corner of Norway Savings Bank.
Police said they believe the woman fell asleep at the wheel.
Mary Hoover, 39, was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee around 5:30 a.m. when she went off the road, down an embankment and into the corner of the brick building on Parkway, according to police. Both she and her passenger, 54-year-old James Eaton III of Hanover, were hurt, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Both were taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. Hospital staff refused to release any information about their conditions.
The SUV hit the bank’s office area and caused some damage, but the business was able to open Saturday. No one was believed to have been in the bank when the crash occurred.
Police said they believe the SUV was totaled.
