Nomination
AUBURN – Captain Frank W. Hullett Post 1603, VFW, Auxiliary will hold nomination and election for chaplain at the 6:30 p.m. meeting Wednesday, Oct. 12. Any member interested in becoming chaplain may attend.
Grange program
AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the grange. The program will be presented by the Legislative Committee, David Young, chairman. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are invited. Anyone with an entry for the 2x2x2 Contest is reminded to bring it to the meeting. There will not be another meeting this month because of State Grange Convention.
Rotary speaker
LEWISTON – Members of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will hear the latest information about fire prevention from Paul Ouellette of the Lewiston Fire Department at noon Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Ramada Inn. Anyone wishing to attend to hear the speaker or to learn more about Rotary is welcome. Weekly buffet luncheons are $8 a person.
Bridge play
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Oct. 4 at the Multi-Purpose Center where the Charity Club Championship was held. Overall winners in Flight A were: first, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; second, Luke Merry and Lucille Theriault; third, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Ron Reynolds and Ray Sirois. Sectional fifth went to Claire Lyons and Connie Reynolds.
Flight B and C winners were: first, Helen Little and Anita Perrier; second, Doug and Betty Sise. A club Appreciation Pairs Game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.
The annual membership game was held on Oct. 5 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Overall winners were: first, Patricia Garcia and Martine Begert; second, John Hackett and Ray Sirois; third, Nancy Lindgren and Lucille Theriault; tied at fourth, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus with Misha Tomic and Mary Leahey.
North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Patricia Garcia and Martine Begert; second, Nancy Lindgren and Lucille Theriault; tied at third, Misha Tomic and Mary Leahey with David Lock and Jeanine Kivus. East/West winners in Flight A were: first, John Hackett and Ray Sirois; second, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; tied at third, Doug and Betty Sise with Mike and Pat Quinn. Bridge results
NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met Oct. 9 at the Masonic Building, intersection of Routes 100 and 231.
Winners were Betty and Doug Sise; Martine Begert and Rosemarie Godwin; Sally Johnston and Pat Schlegel.
