TURNER – The Fall/Winter class schedule continues at SAD 52 Adult and Community Education in Greene, Leeds and Turner.

On Oct. 17 there will be a one-night Emotional Freedom Technique Workshop. The technique is being used to stop smoking, lose weight, subdue pain, improve golf scores, work through grief and quell anxiety and fear.

A Do You Know How Your Money Works class will be held on Oct. 18 at Leeds Central School. This seminar is geared to all ages and pre-registration is required.

Join the instructor on Oct. 19 in making Pioneer Scrap dolls. All materials will be provided. A little sewing will have to be done.

The Fun With Books Workshop will be held Oct. 20 at Turner Primary School to help parents feel more comfortable reading to their children.

Beginning Oct. 20, a three-week class will teach how to make a 24-inch patriotic “Land That I Love” wall quilt.

A three-night Heartsaver infant, child, adult CPR and first aid class will be held beginning Oct. 24. At the end, participants will receive a two-year certificate for basic first aid and CPR.

A blood pressure and cholesterol screening program offered by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center on Oct. 25 from 2:30 to 5 p.m., will give individuals the opportunity to learn more about their health and receive immediate feedback. In addition, individual risk factors are reviewed and recommendations are offered. All information remains confidential. Pre-registration is required. Call the Adult Education office at 225-3478.

A four-week class starting Oct. 25 will teach how to plants Zone 4 perennials. Slides will illustrate the instructor’s choices.

On Oct. 27 Paul Ferland of Horace Mann Insurance will offer a program about planning for retirement. Call the office to register. There is no charge.

In an introductory yoga course, students will learn the basics of Ashtanga, a yoga practice developed in India. During the seven-week session beginning Nov. 3, students will experience the key points of practice. The class is open to all levels, from novice to experienced students interested in revisiting the basics.

The third and final driver education class offered this semester begins Nov. 7 and consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of driving. To register, call Karen’s Driving School at 783-7483.

On Nov. 7, there will be a one-night class to make a piece of natural jute rope into a rustic hanging. Threaded onto the jute will be beads, bells, cloth covered foam balls and wooden spools.

Reflexology will be offered in a one-night workshop on Nov. 9. Participants will learn how this form of massage makes the entire body feel stress free. Dress comfortably and be willing to work with a partner.

A one-night workshop on Nov. 9 and teach the basics of sewing machines and how they work.

Another Do You Know How Money Works will be held Nov. 10 at Leavitt Area High School and the final one will be held Nov. 29 at Turner Primary School.

Learn how to make truffles and cream filled chocolates in a class being offered on Nov. 29 and 30. Laurie LeRiche will share her recipes and techniques on making holiday chocolates.

Earrings for Fun will be offered on Thursday night, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 3, during the day. Learn the basics of making earrings from beads, seed and fishing lures. The lab fee includes basic supplies. Earrings range from $3 to $8 depending on choice of beads.

Students in grades kindergarten through eight are encouraged to join the LAHS Competition Cheerleaders for a day of stunting, cheering and tumbling on Dec. 3 from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. There is no charge for cheering coaches to attend the clinic but registration fee for students is $20.
