RUMFORD – Rumford Hospital spearheaded an effort to have area organizations and businesses field teams for the Heart Association Central/Western Maine Heart Walk in Lewiston.

Franklin Savings Bank, Hannaford Supermarkets, Med-Care Ambulance Service, NewPage Rumford Paper Co., River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition, Rumford Community Home and Rumford Hospital sent teams to the walk – more than 50 residents in all.

Rumford area teams collectively raised more than $4,000 to benefit the American Heart Association. The biggest money-raiser was Sherrie Hansen of Hannaford with $477. Lauriann Milligan of Med-Care placed second with $255.
