MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Paul Pierce scored 19 points and rookie Ryan Gomes added 18 to lead the Boston Celtics to a 107-100 victory over the Toronto Raptors in a preseason game on Friday night.

Justin Reed, a seldom-used second-year player, scored a pair of baskets to give Boston a 104-100 lead with 26.1 seconds left in the game and then added a pair of free throws with 20 seconds remaining. Mike James led Toronto with 20 points while Matt Bonner added 16 for the Raptors.

The Celtics are 1-1 in the preseason while Toronto fell to 0-2.

Toronto took a 32-17 lead with 2:04 left in the first quarter on a 16-foot jumper by Chris Bosh. However, the Celtics cut the deficit to 57-55 at halftime after Raef LaFrentz sank a pair of free throws with 5.9 seconds left in the second quarter.

Boston played without several injured players: Marcus Banks (left shin), Tony Allen (right knee surgery) and Al Jefferson (sprained left ankle), Eric Williams (sore right knee) and Alvin Williams (right knee surgery).
