SABATTUS – Robert and Theresa Tanguay of Sabattus celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3 at C&J Hall in Lewiston. The 5:30 p.m. dinner party was catered by his sister and her husband, Doris and Stan Pelletier.
The event was hosted by their three children and spouses, Tina and Neal Buniskas of Lisbon, Brenda and Jack Hutchings of Richmond, and Rob and Michele Tanguay of Litchfield. The celebration included an elegant dinner on beautifully decorated tables. The hall was decorated as well.
About 100 guests attended the celebration. A beautiful three-tier cake was served after dinner, followed by dancing. A giant memory board was featured, displaying numerous photos. Their son, Rob Tanguay, was toastmaster, delivering an excellent speech.
Many friends and relatives attended, including some from their original wedding party. Many attended from Maine, Florida and Canada. Many Sabattus legionnaires and a few National Guard friends attended.
Mr. Tanguay and the former Terry Gahagan were married on Sept. 5, 1955, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. In addition to their three children, they have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The couple retired in 1993 from the Kitty Korner Store in Lisbon Falls. Mr. Tanguay is semi-retired and continues his part-time management and partnership in Maine Refrigeration Sales Company.
