PARIS – Oxford County Democrats held a fund-raising supper for REACH, the Oxford County agency providing services to victims of sexual violence on Sept. 30 with Maine Attorney General Steve Rowe as guest of honor and speaker.

Members of the First Congregational Church of South Paris contributed to the success of the event by preparing a meal at cost, allowing the donation to REACH to be just under $400.

In his remarks, the attorney general recognized the work of REACH for services to victims of sexual violence and for the education of law enforcement and medical personnel as well as the public.

Democratic County Chairwoman Cathy Newell singled out Marge Medd and Roy Gedat for recognizing the financial need of REACH and suggesting that the Democrats select the group for a fund-raising dinner. REACH Executive Director Shari Smith recognized the work of Marge Medd and of Bill Stockwell of Waterford, who was present at the dinner, for their work in helping the agency to move to a firm financial situation over the past six months.

Recipients of donations from the Oxford County Democrats have included New York City Firefighters, Paperworkers in Millinocket during the shutdown, the town of Canton, the roof fund of the Locke Mills Legion, and, currently the Veterans for Peace Hurricane Relief Fund.
