Oct. 5, 10:03 a.m. – A three-axle dump truck carrying chicken manure from A.J. Decoster Co. in Turner lost some of its load at Franklin and Bridge streets when the driver applied the brakes. The spill “was enough to stink the town up,” said Detective Lt. Stacy Carter on Thursday. Rumford firefighters washed the manure away with fire hoses.
• Oct. 5, 9:52 a.m. – Claudia Marcellino, 67, of Mexico, driving a 1995 Buick Regal, struck the rear of a 2004 Volvo sedan operated by Lucienne Gilbert, 64, of Rumford, on Hancock Street. Marcellino, who complained of chest pain when the airbag went off, was treated and released by Med-Care Ambulance medics at the scene. Gilbert was not injured. Bisson and Hebert towed both cars, which each sustained an estimated $4,000 damage.
• Oct. 3, 3:50 p.m. – A 1994 Chrysler LeBaron operated by Ceara Carrier, 17, of Rumford, struck the rear of a 1998 Kia, operated by Phillip Zinck, 42, of Rumford, at the bottom of Falls Hill on Route 2. Zinck complained of neck pain; Carrier was uninjured. Damage to the Kia was estimated at $800, to the Chrysler, $1,200.
