AUBURN – Road work will close two major thoroughfares today as construction crews repair or replace culverts in unrelated projects.
A long section of South Main Street will be closed to traffic as workers replace a large culvert near Prospect Hill Golf Course, according to Auburn Highway Department Supervisor Richard Keene.
An entire culvert there will be torn up and replaced, Keene said. He expects the work to begin by 7 a.m. and continue through the dinner hour.
On Trapp Road, a culvert that was washed up during recent rains will need to be lifted out of the ground and repaired, Keene said. The work began on Monday and is expected to be complete by the end of the day today.
Motorists are advised to find alternate routes as the work forces the closure of Trapp Road in the area of Pownal Road.
