LIVERMORE – Livermore Republicans gathered on Oct. 4 to hear Reps. Thomas Shields of Auburn and Scott Lansley of Sabattus share their experiences in the Maine Legislature.

Issues discussed included the need for tax reform; bond packages; Maine’s learning results; No Child Left Behind; essential programs and services; and the impact high fuel costs are having on the state, especially the school systems.

It was noted that Lansley is now the Maine chairman of the Americans for Tax Reform. A letter was read sharing Peter Cianchette’s reasons to drop out of the gubernatorial race.

The next meeting of the Livermore Republican Town Committee will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Community Building in Brettuns. The speaker will be gubernatorial candidate Peter Mills.

The public is welcome to attend at 7 p.m. to hear Mills share his vision for the future of Maine under his leadership.
