LEWISTON – Edith E. Arnold, 86, a resident of 97 Cook St., Auburn, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 19, shortly upon arrival at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 12, 1919, the daughter of Chester and Beatrice (Allen) Harlow. She attended Auburn schools and was a 1937 graduate of Edward Little High School.

In 1939, she married Clarence “Tanny” Arnold. She operated Auburn Lunch for many years and then was employed by Bates College for 19 years as food service supervisor.

She enjoyed beano, cards, bowling and family gatherings.

Survivors include one son, Clifford “Kip” Arnold and his wife, Barbara, of Greene; two daughters, Nancy Davenport and her husband, Henry III, of Auburn, and Linda Spear and her husband, Harold, of Canton; one sister, Marguerite Connor of Brunswick; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; and one sister, Louise Harlow.
