NORWAY – Otto W. Brandes, 84, of South Paris, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., on March 7, 1921, the son of Walter O. and Jeannetta Brandes. He attended school on Long Island, N.Y., and had been employed at Fairchild in Beth Page, Long Island, N.Y. He had also been head custodian for the Medford Patchogue school district. He was a painter by trade.

He was a member of the Floyd-Harlow VFW Post 9787, Foster-Carroll American Legion Post 72 and constantly volunteered at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army. He was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked.

He is survived by a son, Walter; a daughter, Diana McCutcheon and her husband, Bradley; and two granddaughters, Meghan and Brittany.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, in 2001.
