AUGUSTA – The second preliminary meet in the Maine USATF Fall Cross Country Program is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Unversity of Maine at Augusta.

The age divisions are 8-under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-29, 30-over at 5-year intervals. Age groups are determined by subtracting birth year from 2005.

Entry fee is $3 and USATF registration ($12 youth, $15 adult) is required and available at the meet. Registration begins at 12:15 p.m. Course walks start at 1:00, with the first race slated for 2:00. Ribbons will be awarded to the top 6 in each age division. Participant ribbons will be given to all others.

Other preliminary meets are scheduled Sundays, as follows: Oct. 30, Smiling Hill Farm, Westbrook; Nov. 6, University of Maine-Augusta.

State Championship Meet is set for Sunday, Nov. 13 at the University of Maine at Augusta.

The top 20 in each age group and the top 3 clubs will advance to the Region 1 Championship scheduled for Nov. 20 at Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I. National Championship is also set for Bryant College on Dec. 10.

Students to be honored

ORONO – The University of Maine is inviting top students to join Senior Day with the Black Bear football team for its game against Rhode Island on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.

Any Maine student in Grades K-8 who has achieved perfect attendance or carried an “A” average during any of the first grading periods is eligible to receive a free ticket to the final home game of the season. Forms are available through each school office. They must be returned to the University of Maine by Nov. 5.
