AUGUSTA – Fiddler Doug Kershaw, who’s known as the Ragin’ Cajun, will returning to Maine this weekend when he will appears at Cony High School. The show will start at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Sharing the stage with Kershaw will be Maine singer and songwriter Debbie Myers.
Kershaw, a key player in the promotion and revival of the disappearing Cajun culture, was born in Tiel Ridge, Cameron Parish, Louisiana, an island off the Gulf of Mexico,
Kershaw has many songs to his credit but none were as noted as his 1961 autobiographical recording, “Louisiana Man,” about his family. In 1969, this was the first song broadcast back to earth from the moon by the Apollo 12 mission.
Myers has appeared throughout Maine, including fairs and the Great Falls Balloon Festival.
