RUMFORD – Mark S. Curato, 50, of Maple Avenue, died Monday, Oct. 17, at his home with his family at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Rumford on Oct. 5, 1955, a son of Dominic J. and Jennie E. (Buccina) Curato. He was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School. He also attended the University of Maine at Farmington.

He was employed for 25 years in the Rumford paper mill. For the first five years, he was on the paper machine and the last 20 years in the color plant as a stock preparation operator.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church. He was a member of Boise 25 year Club, the Sons of Italy, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Oakdale Country Club.

He loved golfing, partying, family gatherings and following the New York Yankees.

He will be remembered as a happy-go-lucky person who always had a smile on his face.

Survivors are his mother, Jennie (Buccina) Curato of Rumford; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Dominic “Chick” Curato, in 1995.
