LEWISTON – John M. Johnston III, 44, of Auburn, died of heart failure on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born in Calais on Feb. 21, 1961, and was educated in Portland, where he graduated from Deering High School in 1979.

He was a chef and most recently worked at the Village Inn in Auburn.

He was proud of his three children and enjoyed watching them play sports. He loved the ocean and often took his children there for picnics.

He was a member of the Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Mechanic Falls.

He will be missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his three children, John IV, Sarah and Vanessa; his father, John M. Johnston II and his wife, Sonja; his mother, Edith Ames and her husband, Alan; his sisters, Judi Richardson and her husband, Wayne, and Jolene Troiano and her husband, Patsy; his brothers, Bill Bourassa Jr., and Jay Johnston; step-siblings, Alan Ames Jr., and his wife, Ann, Peter Ames and his wife, Alice, and Laurel Webber and her husband, Gary; four nieces; two nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
