TORONTO (AP) – Rookie Joey Graham scored 20 points and the Toronto Raptors beat the Boston Celtics 93-83 in a preseason game on Friday night.

Graham, the 16th overall pick in the NBA draft, missed the previous three games with left knee tendinitis. He started Friday and was 9-for-14 from the field.

Morris Peterson had 21 points in a reserve role. Graham started in his place as coach Sam Mitchell wanted to give Graham an opportunity.

Graham showed a nice touch on his jumper, and an ability to drive to the net.

Toronto rookie Charlie Villanueva, the seventh pick in the draft, finished with 13 points.

Raef LaFrentz had 17 points for the Celtics, who dropped to 1-4 in the preseason.

The Raptors started the fourth quarter with an 11-2 run. Villanueva capped it with a jumper that gave Toronto a 77-66 lead.

Graham made a 3-pointer and a jumper to give Toronto an 88-75 lead with 3:31 left.

Toronto’s Alvin Williams had four assists in 11 minutes in his second game since returning from microfracture surgery on his right knee. Williams’ career has been in doubt.
