WATERVILLE – Blake Jordan scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal on a header after a corner kick to send Waterville to the Eastern Maine Class A boys’ soccer semifinals with a 3-1 win over Edward Little on Saturday.
Jack L’Heureux and John Jabar also scored for the Purple Panthers (14-1), while Zack Jochem stopped two out of three shots to earn the win in net.
Billy Brewster scored the lone goal for Edward Little (8-6-2) after a long throw-in by Adam Lutz with 12 seconds remaining in the first half.
EL keeper Josh Mains stopped three shots.
St. Dom’s 2, Waynflete 1
PORTLAND – Matt Barlion scored two goals to lead St. Dom’s to a 2-1 victory over third-ranked Waynflete in a Class C boys’ soccer playoff matchup on Saturday.
Barlion scored his first goal 10 seconds into the game off a pass from Nate Brown. The Flyers wasted no time tying the game 10 seconds later when Kyle Biaga scored on a feed from Josh Amoroso.
Goalkeeper Austin Fuller made seven saves for the Saints.
Monmouth 1, Traip 0
MONMOUTH – Sean Holbrook found the back of the net on a header off a feed from Nate Armstrong in the second overtime as Monmouth advances with a 1-0 victory over Traip in a boys’ soccer quarterfinal playoff on Saturday.
Goaltender Scott Ogden made 15 saves for the second-ranked Mustangs to pick up the shutout. Monmouth will host St. Dom’s on Wednesday.
Connor Kuehl made 11 saves in net for Traip.
Lisbon 2, Maranacook 1
READFIELD – Evan Manocal found the back of the net off a corner kick from Nate Osmond in overtime to give Lisbon a 2-1 victory over No. 3 Maranacook in boys’ soccer playoff action on Saturday.
Osmond netted the tying goal with 5:30 left in the game unassisted off a rebound for the sixth-ranked Greyhounds.
Maranacook drew first blood when Cameron Madore scored unassisted 90 seconds into the matchup.
Hebron 4, Gould 0
HEBRON – Josh Taylor scored a goal and added an assist to lead Hebron to a 4-0 victory over Gould in boys’ soccer on Saturday.
Hebron (6-1-1) also received goals from Sung-Jae Chang, Cameron Laurie and Ben Jessome. Dmytro Naida and Will Sorkin combined for nine saves and the shutout in net for Hebron.
Rangeley 1, Buckfield 0
RANGELEY – Nels Christianson scored the only goal the Lakers needed as No. 3 Rangeley squeaked out a 1-0 win over No. 7 Buckfield in a Western Class D boy’s soccer quarterfinal on Saturday.
The Bucks (4-8) and Lakers (7-6) split games during the regular season and battled hard in a well matched contest. Christianson tallied his unassisted goal at the 35:45 mark to put Rangeley up 1-0 at the half.
Goalie Justin Dodge had 10 saves for Buckfield, while Luke Hammond turned back five shots for Rangeley to earn the shutout.
Field hockey
Cony 3, Oxford Hills 0
AUGUSTA – Brittany O’Brien scored a goal and added an assist to lead Cony to a 3-0 win over Oxford Hills in a Eastern Class A field hockey semifinal on Saturday.
Monica White and Alyssa Clouti also scored for the Rams (12-4), while Natalie Fecteau stopped five shots to earn the shutout.
Aleksys Pike made four saves in net for the Vikings (9-8).
Holderness 2, Hebron 0
HEBRON – Kelly Hood scored both goals to lead Holderness to a 2-0 victory over Hebron in a field hockey matchup on Saturday.
Betsy Laurin and Meagan Paxton split goaltending duties and combined for two saves for Holderness (7-1).
Marley Lumbard made 10 saves in net for Hebron (3-4).
Girls’ soccer
Kents Hill 2, Hebron 0
HEBRON – Courtney Perklen drew first blood with a unassisted goal at the 33:06 mark of the first half as Kents Hill defeated Hebron 2-0 in girls’ soccer on Saturday.
Melissa Rundlett added an insurance goal at the 20-minute mark of the second half.
Goalie Alison Smart stopped all six shots to earn the shutout for Kents Hill. Steph Roy had eight saves for Hebron (2-4-2).
