AUBURN – Area coaches, athletes and parents are invited to attend a free public symposium on “ACL Injury Prevention”. The event is sponsored by Central Maine Orthopaedics and HEALTHSOUTH Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center of Auburn, and will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8-10:30 a.m. at that facility at 690 Minot Ave.

Guest speaker will be Holly Silvers, MPT from the Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Research Foundation.

Road race upcoming

AUGUSTA – The 10th annual Capital City Veterans Day 5K is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11. Registration will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. at Hodgkins Middle School, Malta Street, Augusta. The 1-mile “Fun Run” will start at 9:30, and the 5K at 10:00. Entry fee is $15 for the 5K and $5 for the “Fun Run”.

Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winner, plus age group leaders. There will be a raffle.
