AUBURN – Elizabeth C. Farrar R.N., 93, of Auburn, died Oct. 24, at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home of Maine, where she lived for the past three-and-a-half years.

Born in Buckfield, on Feb. 11, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mae Cooper. She was educated in the Buckfield elementary school system and graduated from high school in Shrewsbury, Mass., Class of 1929. She went on to further her education and graduated from nursing school at Worcester City Hospital in 1932. She became a registered nurse, certified by the commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1933.

She practiced nursing at Central Maine General Hospital in Lewiston. She was a member of the founding staff of the first Norway hospital in about 1952. She returned to Central Maine General Hospital as a nurse in the operating room and a nursing instructor. In the 1960s, she became the administrator of the Andrews Nursing Home on Main Street in South Paris.

Living most of her life in the Paris area, she was active in the local community and was a longtime, active member of the First Baptist Church of Paris Hill. In 1999, she relocated to Auburn to be with her daughter, Jane Rioux.

She is survived by a large family consisting of her daughters, Bernice Brown of Norfolk, Va., Jane Rioux of Auburn and Candace Farrar of Farmington; a son, Lawrence Farrar of Alabama; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph L. Farrar, who died 1963; and her daughter, Eleanor Geary.
