AUBURN – Maurice D. Fournier, 78, a resident of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home in Auburn, formerly of Turner, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, after a long illness.

He was born in Chisholm, town of Jay, on July 27, 1927, the son of Napoleon and Aurore Caron Fournier. He attended Jay schools, including Jay High School.

He proudly served in the Navy in 1945 and was recalled in 1950 to serve in the Korean War.

On Oct. 10, 1949, he married the former Jacqueline Legere of Riley. She passed away on March 31, 1961, with an unborn daughter.

Later, on May 5, 1962, he married Lorraine Lacombe of Lewiston.

He was the owner of Tri-Town Lanes since 1958. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima and for a time was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Toastmasters.

In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing with his wife, and sitting on their porch at Bear Pond overlooking the lake. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Roger and Herve; a sister, Theresa Poulin; two brothers-in-law, Conrad Chenard and Bert Lacombe; and a niece, Jane Fournier.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Odd Fellows for the care he was given.
