LEWISTON – Regina E. Hutchinson, 70, of Jay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, with her loving family by her side.

She was born March 9, 1935, in Jay, a daughter of Merwin and Clara (Putnam) Bean. She was a graduate of Jay High School and was employed by Norwock Shoe Co. and Edgar Beisaw Construction, and was the secretary for the superintendent of schools in Jay for 25 years, until her retirement in 1994.

On June 11, 1955, she married Conrad S. Hutchinson in Jay. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at her son’s home, where some 130 people attended.

She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, her vegetable and flower gardens, and bargain shopping with her sister on Saturdays. She was best known for her kindness and willingness to help those in need.

She was a member of the Jay Baptist Church for 61 years, a member of the Ladies Aid and held many positions in the church ranks. She was also a member of the Canton Extension Club.

She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Conrad “Hutch” Hutchinson; two sons, Jeff Hutchinson and his wife, Donna Hutchinson, and Jerry Hutchinson and his wife, Lori Hutchinson, all of Jay; grandchildren, Amanda Hutchinson and her fianc, Jon Welch, of Dixfield, Lee Hutchinson of Farmington and Miles Hutchinson of Jay; great-grandchildren, Jade Hutchinson and Ryder Welch; a sister, Loanne Bean of Jay; and a brother, Merwin Bean and his wife, Jean, of Spring Hill, Fla., and Canton.

She was predeceased by her parents, Merwin and Clara Bean.
