Halloween dinner
RUMFORD – SeniorsPlus Halloween dinner and festivities will take place on Friday, Oct. 28 – the festivities at 11 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Dining Center, 50 Congress St.
Menu will be ham, sauce, potato, cabbage, carrots, turnip, roll and Halloween cake with choice of coffee, tea or milk. Cost is a $2.50 donation for those 60 and over, their spouses, people with disabilities and volunteers; $4 for those under 60. For reservations and more information, call Kim at 364-3572.
Haunted walk
ANDOVER – A Halloween walk will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, starting at Andover Automotive, Main Street.
The wooded maze will pass by by 12 scenes sponsored by area businesses and community members. Wanderers will keep walkers on their toes as well. Donations of $1 a walker will benefit a school-sponsored trip to Europe for organizers Abby Mills and Esther Pew. Those 4 and under are free with a paying adult. Andover Elementary School fifth-grade will sell glow-in- the-dark bracelets to benefit their class trip. For more information, call 392-4691.
Flu clinic
RUMFORD – A Medicare flu vaccine clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Eagles Hall, Oxford Avenue.
Those attending must bring their Medicare card and all other insurance cards in order to receive a vaccine and have it covered by insurance.
All persons without Medicare coverage will be charged $25. It is for high risk persons only, over age 9.
Halloween Nite
RUMFORD – Lodge of Elks 862 is hosting a Drug Awareness/Youth Activities Halloween Nite for fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Meroby Elementary School gym. To enter a contest, wear a costume. There will be dancing and games to play, also many drawings throughout the night.
Craft fair
RUMFORD – The Elementary School Craft Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the school on Lincoln Avenue. There will be jewelry, knitwear, tote bags, wooden crafts, jams, jellies, pickles, holiday crafts and unusual crafts. Refreshments and lunch will be available. The school will also have raffle items and children’s crafts for sale. Proceeds benefit the Elementary PTO.
Site walk
WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Planning Board will conduct a site walk at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, on a subdivision as proposed by Lloyd Poland. The site, to be known as Fuller Hill Estates, is off the Fuller Hill Road. The board members will meet at the Town Office at 1 p.m. Rain date is 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
Halloween dance
RUMFORD – An adult Halloween dance and fund-raiser will be held from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Sons of Italy Hall, Route 108. Dan Richards is donating the music; the cost is $5 a person or $8 a couple. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for “most original” costume.
There will also be a Chinese auction with many items donated by local businesses as well as a 50/50 that will be drawn on Nov. 12 at the spaghetti supper.
The group process class at the University College is sponsoring the event to raise money for the scholarship fund, which will benefit students attending the Rumford/Mexico Center.
Mission fair
DIXFIELD – St. Joseph Mission is making plans for the fall fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the church on Weld Street. There will rummage tables, crafts, penny raffle, raffle tables, food sale, and breakfast and lunch will be served. Tables are available for rent; call Yvonne at 562-8202. Tickets for the grand prize are on sale from church members.
Stop smoking
RUMFORD – Anyone who has participated in the smoking cessation classes in the 2004-2005 years or is signing up for the November sessions is invited to a free presentation by Dr. Angella Roberts.
She will discuss stress management and relaxation as it pertains to tobacco use and the quitting process. To sign up, contact Stephanie Thompson at 364-7408.
