WINDHAM – Sinisa Bajic netted two goals in the opening 10 minutes to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 4-2 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in a men’s soccer game on Thursday at Windham High School.

Bajic put the Huskies (5-9-3) on the board when he headed in a goal at 4:27, and then doubled the Huskies advantage six minutes later. Chris Lapointe would finish the contest with a goal and three assists, while Adam Bial chipped in with a goal for the win.

Kellen Brown and Andy Knox each found the back of the net for the Beavers (4-8-3).

Womens’ soccer

Plymouth State 1, USM 0

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Kelsey McBride scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute to lift Plymouth State University to a 1-0 upset victory over the University of Southern Maine in women’s soccer on Thursday.

McBride broke the scoreless deadlock and collected her team-leading seventh goal of the season, finishing off a nice crossing pass from Jaimee Coombs.

The Panthers’ (4-10-1) Hayley Quinones was strong in net, stopping 12 shots for the shutout. Southern Maine (10-5-1) was paced by freshman keeper Mindy Morneault, who made seven saves.

Field hockey

Keene State 1, USM 0

KEENE, N.H. – Amanda Rosenbeck’s goal late in the first half was the difference in Keene State College’s 1-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine in field hockey action on Thursday.

The Owls (9-8, 7-2 LEC) scored the only goal of the game when Rosenbeck blasted a shot from just inside the circle past Huskies’ (5-5 LEC) keeper Sadie Garnache-Poirier with 7:36 remaining in the first half.

Sara Joyce registered only two saves to preserve the shutout, while Garnache-Poirier stopped 11 shots for USM.
