AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library has been selected to receive from the We the People Bookshelf, a collection of 15 books on the theme of “Freedom.”

The program, presented by the National Endowment for the Humanities along with the American Library Association, encourages young people to read and understand great literature while exploring themes in American history.

Some of the books contained in the collection include “Paul Revere’s Ride” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, “Ben and Me” by Robert Lawson, “Across Five Aprils” by Irene Hunt and “Miracle in Philadelphia” by Catherine Drinker Bowen.

The library is among 1,000 across the country to receive the honor. The books are available for borrowing at the library’s temporary location at the Auburn Mall. For more information on the collection, call Sally Holt, reference and teen librarian, at 782-3191.
