RUMFORD – Mary Eugenie Rain, 93, of Dixfield, beloved wife of Frank Rain, died on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005.

She was born in Mexico, the daughter of the late Carroll and Myra (Packard) Austin. She graduated from Mexico High School and received a B.S. degree in elementary education from the University of Maine.

She taught in Mexico schools for 38 years and was a member of the Maine Teachers’ Retirement Association. She was an active member of the Mexico, and later, the Dixfield Congregational Choir and other church ministries.

She is survived by her husband, Frank, of 33 years; two sons, Richard Dorr and wife, Claire, of Bloomfield, Conn., and Warren Dorr and wife, Edie, of Peru; a stepdaughter, Diane Carlton and husband, Dale, of Dixfield; a stepson, Richard Rain and wife, Julie, of Bow, N.H.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; six nephews; and many wonderful friends.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Kermit Dorr; and a stepdaughter, Donna Wolters.
