AVON, Conn. (AP) – A charter bus driver faces charges after police say he used a field hockey player’s cell phone to take obscene photos of himself and send them to students.

Tracy Pettway, 39, of Rocky Hill was charged Friday with five counts of computer crime, three counts of obscenity and two counts of disorderly conduct.

Pettway, a driver for Double A Transportation of Rocky Hill, was held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.

Police say he has been suspended from his job with the company. A Hartford public schools spokesman said Pettway drove a field hockey team from Capital Prep magnet school in Hartford to Avon High School on Monday.

He allegedly told students he would look after their belongings if they left them on the bus.

Avon police said that while the girls were playing, Pettway used a cell phone that had been left on the bus to take three obscene pictures of himself. He then allegedly sent the pictures to five students whose e-mail addresses were in the phone, police said.

“He drove somewhere and took the pictures, but it was on the bus,” police Capt. Mark Rinaldo said. “There were some inappropriate writings sent along with the pictures.”

Police said the phone’s owner discovered the images when she checked her e-mail.
