AUBURN – The Boy Scout Abnaki Roundtable met at the Auburn Middle School recently. The session was called to order by Roundtable Commissioner Jim Keene.

After the business meeting, the program was turned over to the speaker, Mike Barone. He discussed the Philmont Scout Reservation in Cimmarron, N.M. The 137,493 acres was donated by Waite Phillips as well as a 23-story office building in Tulsa, Okla., to generate income to support the Scout Reservation.

Philmont is located in the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains. Scouts who attend do three hours of conservation projects on trails. An additional seven hours can be done in the home district/council to earn the 50-mile award.

Philmont sign-up consists of a one-day a year Internet lottery, usually done at the end of October. Cost of $520 includes food and program for 12 days.
