WATERBORO (AP) – An early-morning home fire Sunday claimed the life of a 27-year-old man.

Firefighters found the body of Jamie Huntress in the breezeway of his mobile home off Grant Street, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. when Huntress’ 11-year-old son, Zie, heard the smoke detector, escaped the fire and ran across the street to summon a neighbor.

Investigators from the state fire marshal’s office determined that the fire began in the kitchen stove after a pan was apparently left burning.
