LITTLETON, N.H. (AP) -Police told Bode Miller that if he needs to speed, stick to the slopes.

The World Cup ski champion was in Littleton District Court on Friday to contest a speeding ticket in town last month.

Police said Miller, who last year became the first American male in 22 years to win the overall World Cup title, was clocked going 83 in a 40 mph zone.

Miller, 27, of Franconia, had pleaded innocent to the violation, but Cpl. Bruce McKay said there was videotaped evidence.

Miller was found guilty and fined $250.

“We hope Bode will keep his speed to the slopes,” McKay said.
