UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) – New York Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro will miss Tuesday night’s home game against the Boston Bruins because of bruised knee.

The Islanders said Monday that DiPietro will rest the knee for a few days.

The 24-year-old former No. 1 overall pick in the NHL draft was pulled from a loss Saturday night in the second period against Buffalo after allowing a soft goal in the second period.

He was replaced by Garth Snow, who will start Tuesday against the Bruins. Wade Dubielewicz was recalled Monday from Bridgeport of the AHL to serve as Snow’ s backup.

DiPietro, 4-4 with a 3.26 goals-against average in 10 games this season, was sidelined for four days and one game earlier this season.

after he sustained a concussion on Oct. 13 in a game against Washington.

Dubielewicz was 1-4 with 5.03 GAA this season at Bridgeport.
