WATERVILLE – Matt Gaudet made an immediate impact on the Colby College men’s basketball team after a brilliant high school athletic career at Mountain Valley High School.
Gaudet, who graduated from Colby in 1995, will have his No. 22 jersey retired during a ceremony following the men’s game this Saturday.
Gaudet currently ranks ninth in career scoring at Colby with 1,487 points. He led the Mules in assists from 1992-1995. In addition to his skills as a defender, Gaudet also shot 83 percent from the foul line. He helped Colby to an 85-16 record and two NCAA tournament appearances in four years.
Individual honors came Gaudet’s way with team success. He earned honorable mention All-America honors from Division III News and was a first team selection for All-New England and All-NESCAC in 1995. Gaudet also earned the Maine Player of the Year honor.
