POWNAL – Jacqueline Louise York, 79, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 3, at her home.
She was born in Portland on Dec. 29, 1925, and was the daughter of Carroll and Georgia Ayer.
Jackie was an outstanding craftswoman who could make anything with her hands. She enjoyed woodworking, painting, knitting, and crocheting but her favorite was doll making. She also loved motorcycles and the fringe that goes with the clothing.
She was a family woman who truly loved her family beyond measure and was totally devoted to her husband of 60 years. She had a wicked good sense of humor and even had a special laugh for her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her dignity, her perseverance in the face of tragedies and a readiness to help others at a moment’s notice. She was a woman of the highest morals and the gentlest spirit. She possessed and gave so much that only our hearts will ever know.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Linwood P. York, of Pownal; her daughters, Carol Huntley and her husband, David, of Buxton, Diane Campbell and her husband, Zane Jr., of Lisbon Falls; her grandchildren, Rory, Davina, Nikki and Zane III; and her great-grandchildren, Zachery, Austin, Mariah, Alexa, Ashley and Zane IV.
She was predeceased by her son, Linwood: and her granddaughter, Amanda.
