DURHAM – Writer and author Jim Baumer will be the November speaker for the Lisbon Historical Society in Lisbon Falls.

Baumer recently released his first book, “When Towns Had Teams,” which features the history of town team baseball in Maine, including the communities of Lisbon, Lewiston, Auburn and surrounding towns. This first-of-a-kind book highlights the golden days when local baseball was part and parcel of community life.

Baumer will speak about baseball and small town life in Maine and will also be signing copies of his book afterward. This talk is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. Sabattus selectmen meeting Tuesday

SABATTUS – The Board of Selectmen will meet upstairs in the town office building at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polls will open downstairs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Child Development board to meet

LEWISTON – The Child Development Services-Androscoggin County Governing Board will hold its monthly meeting from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Child Development Services, 1567 Lisbon St. All interested parents and community providers are welcome to attend.
