LISBON – Selectmen have unanimously approved a three-year labor contract with the Maine Association of Police, representing 14 Police Department employees.

The pact, retroactive to July 1, runs through June 30, 2008, and gives wage hikes of 3.5 percent the first year; 3.3 percent the second year and 3 percent the third year. Also, in the third year, employees will start picking up 20 percent of health insurance costs, up from the current 15 percent.

The union represents seven patrol officers, three detectives and four dispatchers.

In other business, selectmen approved hiking the charge for noncertified copies of vital records issued by the town clerk from $3 to $5. The action follows increases for certified copies set by the state.

A mass gathering permit for weekends was issued to Holli’s Indoor Flea Market on Memorial Street, located at the rear of Spiller’s.

The board identified four old county “one house” roads, all about one-tenth of mile. It costs the town an estimated $11,000 to maintain them, which exceeds the property tax collected. No action was taken, but it is expected the issue will be discussed during budget season.
