Vets’ benefits
LIVERMORE FALLS – A final fall Lunch and Learn presentation on veterans’ benefits will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Murray Hall. The program will be presented by Robin Shepard, veterans’ advocate, Maine Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management.
The public is invited to learn about the services that will benefit elderly and/or disabled veterans, including pension benefits, healthcare enrollment options and access to prescription drug payment programs.
The presentations are free. Participants are invited to bring their lunch. The fall series is provided by the Healthy Community Coalition, Franklin Health Access and the Franklin Resource Network in an effort to make seniors, the disabled and caregivers aware of state and local resources.

Tree raffle
PHILLIPS – The Zone will sponsor a Christmas tree raffle to benefit the renovation project at the old gym on Depot Street. Starting Tuesday, Nov. 15, there will be two 4-foot decorated Christmas trees on display at Phillips Hardware Store.
Each tree will have a different theme.
A drawing will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Phillips Hardware.
Tickets cost $1 each or $5 for six tickets.
The Zone Coalition is committed to SAFE Zone activities and creating a community center for Avon, Madrid and Phillips residents in the old gym.
School fair
FARMINGTON – The junior and senior classes at Mt. Blue High School are preparing for their 12th annual Christmas craft fair for Project Graduation to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the high school.
Flu shots will also be available at the Healthy Coalition van. Free finger-printing will be offered by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Dept. and Santa will arrive at 9 a.m. to have photos taken with children.
A continental breakfast and luncheon will be available, and movies will be shown while parents go to the fair. Tables are available. For more information, call Shannon at 778-4726.
Log scoot
LIVERMORE – A farmers’ log scoot was held Oct. 22 at the Washburn Norlands Living History Center. These are the results of the classes held:
2,400 pounds and under: 1st, James Hawkes; 2nd, Justin Winslow; 3rd, Dana Putnam; 4th, Rodney Jenning; 5th, Mark Larrabee; 6th, Don Tilton; 7th, Marissa Winslow; 8th, Hartley Millett; 9th, Cierra Nadeau; 10th, Tammy Chase.

Raffle prize
FARMINGTON – A vacation worth $3,000 is the top prize in the annual Farmington Rotary Club raffle. All the money raised will be used to support more than two dozen community programs, scholarships and projects that help people in need.
The ticket price has been reduced from last year’s and is $5 or $20 for five tickets. Only 2,000 tickets are being sold to increase the chances of winning. Also new this year is second-place prize of $500 and third place, a shotgun or cash equivalent.
Tickets are available through any Rotarian or by calling Rotary President Adrian Harris at 779-7000.
The drawing will be held during the Chester Greenwood Day festivities on Dec. 3 during the Rotary’s annual Festival of Trees held all day at the Granary Restaurant on Pleasant Street.
The Rotary, in conjunction with the Franklin County Children’s Task Force and Pierce House, is also collecting donations of new children’s pajamas and sleepers to distribute for the holidays. Residents of the Pierce House volunteer to gift wrap each set.
