AUBURN – Construction is expected to begin this winter on the first building of a planned new office park at Great Falls Plaza.
If the park is approved by the City Council, the first building will be a three-story, 40,500-square-foot office building along Turner Street.
The $11 million plan also includes a long-awaited parking garage with space for 300 vehicles. That phase of the project is expected to begin next spring and be completed by the next winter.
Bangor Savings Bank has already committed to take the first 5,000 square feet of the new building, moving in 50 employees as soon as it opens. The branch is expected to include an ATM and drive-up service on the first floor of the multistory building.
A medical business and a coffee shop also are interested in becoming tenants in the new office building, according to a site plan approved by the Planning Board on Tuesday night.
The parking garage will be centrally located in the plaza, near enough to serve both the Esplanade and other plaza tenants, including patrons of the Hilton Garden Inn.
Walkways will connect buildings and also provide access to the city’s Riverwalk recreational area.
The office park plan also includes three lots to be developed as office buildings as the need arises, according to the plans. The sites will be used as surface parking in the meantime.
