BETHEL – The Mahoosuc Land Trust will present the first of its “Local Knowledge Series” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the McLaughlin Science Center at Gould Academy.
Speaker will be Dr. Robert K. Story Jr., a local surgeon, who will show slides and discuss his 23-day hike last year into the base camp of Mt. Everest.
Story graduated from Tufts University Medical School and did his residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in New Hampshire. When not performing surgery, he is hiking the world – from the Mahoosucs, to Switzerland, to New Zealand, to Bhutan, to Nepal. He started hiking at age 8 with his dad.
Story will discuss his brush with Buddhism and the added spiritual aspect of hiking in the grandeur and beauty of the Himalayan mountains.
