LEWISTON – Shantelle Elise Dube, 17, of Lewiston passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 9. She fought a heroic five-year battle with osteosarcoma (a form of bone cancer) while living her life with truly amazing grace. Although she did not receive the miracle that many had hoped for, she was blessed with the Lord’s mercy, peace and grace throughout her journey. She was able to fulfill her wish to spend her remaining time at home, where she received a tremendous outpouring of love and support from all she knew.

Shantelle was born in Lewiston on April 25, 1988. She was a senior at Lewiston High School. She enjoyed cheering for F.L.Y. football Senior Giants for several years. She loved school, photography, fashion, interior design, quilting, knitting and spending time with her brother, sister, cats and many friends.

She was a beautiful, compassionate and caring young lady, who often put others’ problems before her own. Her sweet, gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Shantelle is survived by her mother, Donna Dube of Lewiston; her father, Scott Daniels of Lewiston; her brother, Justin Dube, and sister, Amie Daniels, of Lewiston; grandparents, Donald and Therese Dube of Lewiston, Cecile Daniels of Lewiston, and Stanley and Claire Labbe of Litchfield; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

She was predeceased by her grandfather, John Daniels.

A special appreciation goes out to all who provided loving care for Shantelle during her illness: Maine Children’s Cancer Program, Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
