In a letter Oct. 28, Almon Jordan Jr. said that if people do not believe the Bible, they should be honest and say so. I, too, am tired of people twisting the Bible to try to make it say, or not say, what they wish.

For example, there have been several letters recently claiming that Jesus said nothing about homosexuality, as if one could separate what Jesus said from the rest of Scripture.

But Jesus said in Matthew 5:17-18 that he did not come to abolish the law or the prophets, but to fulfill them, and that not even the stroke of a pen would be removed from the law until it was fulfilled.

Anyone who has read the law (Leviticus 20 and Deuteronomy 22), can see that the Bible condemns homosexual behavior, as well as any other sexual behavior except that between a husband and wife. Jesus also said, “Haven’t you read that, at the beginning, the Creator made them male and female,’ and said For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?” Matthew 19:4-5.

If someone does not want to accept what the Bible says, that is his privilege, but he should have the courtesy not to misrepresent it.
